SPECIFIC FEW-DM Endocrine Support is a complete veterinary wet diet specially formulated for cats with diabetes mellitus and for nutritional support of cats with muscle wasting such as cats with hyperthyroidism. The very low carbohydrate content and high protein level reduce hyperglycaemia in cats with diabetes mellitus and support diabetic remission. In cats, amino acids rather than glucose trigger insulin release, making a low carbohydrate, high protein diet the optimal approach. Once a cat achieves diabetic remission, continued feeding of SPECIFIC FEW-DM is recommended to reduce the risk of relapse. Use under veterinary supervision.
  • Very low carbohydrate and high protein content to reduce hyperglycaemia and support diabetic remission in cats with diabetes mellitus
  • Uniquely high levels of omega-3 fatty acids from fish and fish oil to support production of natural anti-inflammatory mediators, improve insulin sensitivity and support the immune system
  • Beta-1,3/1,6-glucans to support the immune response, natural cytokine production and help maintain glycaemic control
  • High dietary levels of antioxidant substances including vitamin A, E and fruit extracts to help neutralise reactive oxygen species associated with oxidative stress in diabetic cats
  • Fermentable fibres including FOS and beet pulp to promote growth of beneficial colonic bacteria for a healthy microbiome in diabetic cats
  • Increased fibre level to retard digestion and reduce postprandial hyperglycaemia
  • Suitable for nutritional support of cats with muscle wasting such as hyperthyroid cats

Daily individual requirements may vary depending on breed, environment, season and activity level. With most regimens for diabetes management it is recommended to feed in two meals, with timing determined by the activity of the insulin. Monitor blood glucose levels, water intake, presence of clinical signs and insulin dose. Cats with diabetes mellitus switched to SPECIFIC FEW-DM may have a reduced need for insulin. Not recommended for kittens or pregnant and lactating queens.
