In 1969, the founder of Eukanuba was looking for a memorable name for his new dog food formula. The quality of his food was unmatched so he needed a unique name to sum up his product. In the 1940s jazz was evolving and its own language was developing. The word Eukanuba ('You-Kan-Noo-Bah') grew out of jazz culture and meant something that was 'supreme'. This seemed to a be a fitting name for a dog food of such high quality, so Eukanuba pet food began.
Today Eukanuba is still living up to its name. Using high-quality ingredients, Eukanuba is uniquely customised for each dog's individual needs.
Eukanuba has a clear nutritional philosophy. Eukanuba believes that because cats and dogs evolved from carnivores, they should be fed accordingly. Only high-quality animal proteins (not vegetables) are the principle source of protein in Eukanuba food.
