PetShopBowl’s Summary

A complete diet to help support the maintenance of all healthy dogs, but unfortunately does not contain the best recipe as it includes unnamed sources of meat and animal derivatives as the main meat ingredient, preservatives and colourants. Although, the diet is still popular with our customers because it is very cheap and easy to feed to your pet.

Feel free to call our pet health specialist for more advice on 01789-205-095

Key Points

Suitable for: Healthy adult dogs of all breeds as a complete and balanced diet.

Main Ingredient: The main ingredient is cereals - meat is much better as the top ingredient.

Main Meat Source: Meat and animal derivatives (including 4% beef in red kibble).

Protein Amount: This diet is 21% protein; enough for adult dogs as long as it can be digested well.

Product Aim: To maintain general health.

Allergy Benefits: Unknown; does contain some ingredients which commonly cause allergies.

Is it a natural product? No, contains preservatives, but no artificial colours or flavours.

Does it include any additives? Yes, preservatives and colourants etc.

Wind, bad breath, fur & teeth benefits? A healthy coat and skin is aided by omega 3 and 6. Yucca and fibre in the diet help limit wind. Dry food helps ‘clean' the teeth and avoid bad breath.

Can I only feed this one product? Yes, it is complete so there is no need for any other foods - just give fresh clean water in a bowl too.

PetShopBowl’s Full View

Wagg Complete Beef & Veg Dry Dog Food is a complete diet for healthy adult dogs of all breeds, which contains 21% protein. It is made to support a healthly digestive system by added fibre and mannan oligosaccharides (a prebiotic). Also supports your pet's immune system by added antioxidant vitamins A, E & C and citrus extracts. The main ingredient is cereals - not very digestible for dogs - diets with a meat main ingredient are much healthier. The next biggest ingredient is 'meat and animal derivatives' which means various meats and animal body parts - not the best meat source. The diet contains no artificial colourants or flavours, but does include preservatives. Overall, the diet is complete so has everything your pet needs, but some ingredients may not be digestible enough and the diet does not have a recipe as good as other brands.

How does it keep my dog fit and healthy?

Maintenance - The diet is complete so it contains all the nutrients your dog needs for their health.
Skin and Coat - Includes balanced omega 3 and 6 levels and zinc for a healthy coat and skin.
Digestion - Contains 3% fibre and yucca to help improve digestive health.
Immunity - Vitamins A, E & C and citrus extracts in the food help to develop a healthy immune system.

And, how do I feed it to my dog?

You can just give the food straight to your pet as it is! However, always follow the feeding guideline to know how much to feed.

So, Is it a good food to buy?

This is a complete food to support your dog's health. The packaging is open about the ingredients, although they are not the as good as those in other dog foods. The feeding method is very easy and the product very cheap!

Would it be agreeable with my dog?

Does your dog have bad breath or teeth?

The food is made into small biscuits which helps keep the teeth clean and remove tartar when the dog bites and chews it!

Does your dog have a dull or rough coat?

The diet contains omega 6 and 3 which aid skin and coat nourishment.

Advice:
Who likes cereal without milk? Always provide plenty of clean fresh water for your dog too!

This information is provided as a guide only. Please refer to the product packaging for full details. The feeding quantities are based on the average healthy dog. Individual feeding needs depend on many factors, including weight, age, size, activity level and environment. So, feeding amounts needed may vary and should be adjusted as required to maintain a lean, healthy body and weight.

If you wanted to feed a mixed diets, perhaps wet and dry food, then be sure to alter the feeding quantities accordingly to avoid over-feeding your dog.

Dogs and cats are natural predators so wouldn’t be eating cold food in nature; to improve how tasty the food is for your pet try providing it at room temperature.

Good delivery in tough times

Nicely packaged with outer bag. Delivery charge expensive, but during pandemic lockdown it was very good to have this delivered

Good value, dog likes it & I like the fewer 'deposits' to clear up

by

Used to feed Darcy on popular brand of canned food with mixer, but flatulence was a problem.
Changed to dry food, but was wary of the assorted colours & loose stools. Ugh!
Wagg was recommended to me & I bought a small bag to try.
Darcy ate it quite happily & there was a marked reduction in his 'output', also it was formed rather than a heap! Much easier to clean up. Flatulence disappeared - happy me!
As the Wagg ingredients states meat derivatives, I have started adding a small amount of raw or cooked meat, tuna in spring water or grated cheese to his two meals a day.
Also use Wagg Dog Gravy on occasions - fit for HUMAN consumption!
Always have fresh filled water bowl close by, as they do drink more on dry food.
Ran out of Wagg & purchased a more expensive dry food from local pet store recently - resulting loose stools & award winning flatulence were vile. Wagg delivery arrived next day & my neighbours cats loved the other dog food (Salmon & Rice)!.

Wagg dog food

by

Very good value, shame I can't order the 12kg bags on a regular order but these work out very cheaply anyway. Had two deliveries now and both were on time. All good so far. the price has gone upto £14.88 on Amazon but petshop.co.uk here still remains good priceso I will keep buying! And I realized the subscription service can even save me more money on dog food. Recommend it!

Consider your dogs dietary requirements!

by

I fed my dog Wagg for a couple of years, until recently he started to get dry skin and patches of missing fur. I would discourage anyone feeding their animal Wagg. Originally I fed this product because of all the product claims on the packaging. I should of know better, there is a saying ' you get what you pay for' and this is so true of this brand. Search around your local pet shops and research online. Dog foods have become much reserached over the last few years. Natural foods and hypo-allergenic foods have come about because of the cheap bulking ingredients used in cheap foods. The first listed ingredient in Wagg is cereal. This is a cheap bulk ingredient which has no place in a dogs diet and contains very little goodness. Many dogs also have allergies to cereals and grains and a dogs health can suffer over the long term. As for the other product claims, the miniscule amounts that need to be included in a product are so tiny its questionable if they are of any benefit over a prolonged period.
Wagg is cheap and as someone on a limted budget myself this is what originaly attracted me to it in my local supermarket. However, recently having changed my dogs diet to a more natural food researched for dogs I would appeal to everyone to care more for their dog. Dont go for convenience and what is cheap as you're not doing your best friend any good. Good quality foods dont cost a great deal more and you often find that with beter quality foods you dont feed as much as the body actually makes use of the goodness rather that rejecting what it doesnt like.

From 8 weeks ago I have fed a cereal and grain free food to my dog. The difference in him has been remakable. His fur all over has become so much thicker and its so shiny. His eyes are brighter and he seems even more alert. Above all of this though he seems more content and not so highly strung.

Consider what is the best for your dog and also research if your breed of dog has any specific nutritional requirements!

A good food

by

Had to change dog food recently as my dog was experiencing an upset stomach more and more frequently.
Spoke to several friends and they all advised me on other brands.
We have changed his dog food for 5 days now and I'm already seeing an improvement in this toilet trips lol. I'm not saying this is an awful food as it's a brilliant price but if your dog has a sensitive stomach I wouldn't recommend, otherwise it's fine.
Another thing I found with Wagg dry food which was a shame, was that my dog never ate all of it at once, he'd pick at it and wouldn't eat it unless we added some wet meat to it. With his new dog food he eats the whole bowl!! I do add some luke warm water to it as he prefers that but even with the wagg doing this he still wouldn't eat it all.

We decided not to go with the Wagg sensitve dry dog food either, as much as I was tempted to it still doesn't have a very high percentage of rice or actual meat in it. SO Instead we went for a different dog food brand all together which was recommended to me as it's got a much higher percentage of meat and whole rice in it & hypoallergenic as well, and so far it's been a major success. It's slightly pricier then the wagg sensitve, only £5 more but totally worth it is my dogs healthier and his tummy agrees!!
Overall this is a very good cheap food BUT ONLY IF you do not have a sensitive tummy doggy or a fussy eater!!

Best value dry dog food in market

by

If it's value you're after then this product won't dissapoint. I feed my J.R and Springer Spaniel on this and they love it. I used to give them the working version but they had too much excess energy.

Wagg complete Beef and veg

My Ben (dog) loves to crunch on them. A big boon for me that they are in 12 Kg bags. Easier to decant
than the massive 15Kg bags, easier to move AND delivered direct to my door. Terrific, I will continue
buying via petshop.co.uk for as long as they are available in this size.
