Diabetes mellitus occurs when the body either fails to produce insulin or no longer responds properly to it. In cats, this condition may develop due to factors such as excess weight and obesity. ROYAL CANIN® Diabetic dry cat food is specifically formulated for adult cats with diabetes mellitus. It is suitable for cats with a body condition score of 6 out of 9 or below, as well as those with a score of 7 out of 9 or higher, until glycaemic control has been achieved. As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Health Nutrition range, this diet should only be fed when recommended by a veterinary professional, and for palatability, it can be complemented with Royal Canin Diabetic Thin Slices in Gravy. Any dietary transition should be gradual over 7–10 days, with careful attention to correct rationing, especially when mixed feeding. Please note that ROYAL CANIN® Diabetic cat food is not suitable for growth or for cats during gestation or lactation.
